Oh hi. I'm Marquette. Been lurking Jalopnik and Oppo for a few years now, thought I'd actually contribute around here from time to time. Here's a bulleted list of things about me.

Recently escaped 14 years of living in Louisiana by moving to Denver, CO.

I have an Emerald Mica 2002 Mazda Miata. 80k miles. Pretty much stock except for Ohlins Road & Track adjustable coilovers. Which are just lovely.

I recently bought a 1988 Mazda 323 GTX for Colorado winters. Yes, this is the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that Mazda built in the late 1980s. Full-time AWD (40:60 front:rear torque split with electronically locking center diff), 2600 lbs., 1.6L turbo with a funky digital dashboard. Mazda only brought over 1,243 of these cars to North America. It's fun.

I've been autocrossing the Miata since May 2012. I have a set of black 949racing 6UL wheels with BFG Rivals.

Dream car: Pagani Zonda. Any of them. A Revolucion or Cinque would do nicely.

I play Gran Turismo 6 quite a bit with my DFGT wheel.

Here are some photos.

The cracked front bumper has since been replaced.

My first time up Pikes Peak. 14,000 feet above sea level is an unforgettable experience!

The Miata here in Denver.

I bought the GTX in September from a guy in New Mexico who had two of them. I kind of sort of really love it. The exterior is a bit rough, but a respray next summer should do a whole lot to remedy that.

Kinja'd!!!

The interior, however, is in excellent shape. The driver's seat even has adjustable side bolstering! The seats are just fantastic.

Kinja'd!!!

I love the gradient upholstery. It's so perfectly 80s.

You'll probably see me around. Thanks for having me. Let me know if you have any questions or want to see any more photos.

I going to pickup a 1990 MX-6 in a few weeks, good to see someone else with a retro Mazda (Luc A has a 1993 323).

Cool! I've always had a fondness for MX-3s. This one was rallying at Missouri's 100 Acre Woods in February!

Totally agreed! Wish I could have found a set of bronze 6UL wheels instead of black to better suit the car.

Every time I see an MX-3, MX-6 or anything similar, I can't stop looking at them. they're so awesome in the way of obscurity.

My father had a 1994 MX-6 back in the day, hence why I'd prefer a 2nd gen over a 1st gen, like the one I'm picking up.

It'll sneak up on you a bit if you're not careful, especially if you're up in the mountains (7000-9000ft ASL) drinking rather than in the city (5280ft ASL)

I took some back in September, but I'm surely going to take countless non-potato shots once I purchase it. http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/took-a-look-at…

Welcome to Colorful Colorado. My Miata and I live just south of you in Colorado Springs. Check out the Peak to Peak Miata club if you need to find an excuse to go for a drive on the weekends ( http://peaktopeakmiata.webs.com/ ). Pretty good bunch of people. And I'll see your one car on Pikes Peak and raise you six more. :-)

How does your Miata do in the mountains? I have an '03, and I've yet to take it too high into the mountains- not really out of worry, it just hasn't happened.

I have been driving the Miata in the mountains for hours and hours nearly every single weekend since I arrived. They are one of the main reasons I chose to move to Denver. Louisiana has nothing but flat, straight roads and the Miata just begged for curves in its life. Its 7000rpm song echoes off the cliffs and through the canyons often these days. I think I'm going to be a bit depressed when the Miata is put away for winter.

Thank you! I left behind a great Miata club in Louisiana, so thanks for passing this along. Do you know how many cars they usually have on a weekend? And what kind of "cruise" it is? I like driving safely, quickly, and curvily.

I've been on drives with as few as 6 or 8 and some twice that or more. Usually there's a destination in mind; restaurant or scenic view. They almost always involve something twisty. My favorite is to take Coal Creek Canyon just north of Golden (Hwy 72) up to Peak to Peak highway (Hwy 119), north to Nederland and then down Boulder Canyon. Lunch or dinner on the Boulder Mall makes for a nice day.
